Here's some useful information about China and Chengdu to help you prepare your trip.
On average, budget travelers spend $27 (¥198) per day, mid-range travelers spend $66 (¥479) per day, and luxury travelers spend around $150 (¥1,092) per day.
To prepare money for a trip to China, the most important step is to download and set up mobile payment apps like Alipay or WeChat Pay.
Generally speaking, you won't need cash for transactions - and a lot of vendors don't even take cash anyway. But if you want to prepare some emergency cash, here's some ways you can get cash in Chengdu.
Both international airports have money exchanges.
You can also exchange your foreign money in the banks in the city of Chengdu. Bank of China, Bank of Construction, ICBC, ABC are all the big banks.
You'll need your passport and to go to the banks between 9am to 4pm during workdays.
You can also withdraw cash from ATMs of the banks listed above. Always check that the ATMs have signs of your bank logo before you put in your bank card.
Chengdu in spring is generally warm and cloudy. It rains a little but it is usually at night, which brings fresh air in the morning.
The average daily high temperature is 22 °C, and the average low temperature is 13 °C.
So bring a jacket and prepare for some lovely cool weather.

Dujiangyan Irrigation System
More than 2,000 years ago, Li Bing designed this water control and irrigation dam and organized thousands of local people to complete the project. It is still in use today, known as the "living water conservancy and museum." This ambitious water project is the world's oldest and only surviving retention-diversion dam.
Sanxingdui Site
The remains of the ancient Shu culture, which dates back to 4800 to 2600 years ago and is considered one of the greatest archaeological discoveries in the 20th century.
Mt. Qingcheng
The birthplaces of Taoism, China's only indigenous religion. It is still a religious center sprinkled with caves and shrines venerated by Taoists.
Jinsha Site
The ancient Shu state, this site was the center of the ancient civilization in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River from the 12th century BC to the 7th century BC.
Visit the Giant Pandas
Check out the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, where you can see the giant pandas up close.
Leshan Giant Buddha
This 71-meter-high seated statue of Maitreya Buddha was carved into a hillside in the 8th century. You can take a boat tour to see this impressive sight, or visit the area and check out the Lingyun temple, which is near the head of the Buddha.
Huanglongxi Ancient Town
A riverside town with over 1700 years of history, it still retains it's ancient architecture, planning style, and layout as it was in Qing Dynasty. It's a scenic experience where you can rent Chinese traditional costumes, taste local snacks, and see the many old structures and the stories behind them.
Jinli Ancient Street
Visit one of the oldest shopping street & busiest commercial areas during the Shu Kingdom. Also known as "The First Street of Shu Kingdom”, stores here can be found selling Shu Embroidery, lacquer products, folk handicrafts, curios, calligraphies and paintings. And of course, there are also an array of food & drinks to be had too.
Shopping at Chunxi Road & Taikoo Li
More than 700 shops can be found here including large shopping malls, department stores, supermarkets, street stalls, and boutiques, as well as modern cafes, and a public square.
